I do like the picture, but what about the motif?

In our culture (western?) I feel so used to these grave facial expression, singular figures with some kind of weapon. And I must admit, they don´t touch me that much*.

Do you aim towards painting scenes that solely work with varied emotions, interactions (non combat) of different people or the telling of a person´s story inside the shown scenery?
I ask because I am sure you would be capable of it, but I don´t find too much along those lines in your gallery except maybe the "mermaid", which I really like.
In my experience it is more difficult to create those pictures. So this is not meant as a push, but as a touch with the idea to conciously direct the skill in a deeper direction.
Some of the old masters really impressed me in that regard, and it shows me that painting really starts when you have gotten good enough to care less about the
technical side of it and get thinking about visual communication / storytelling.

I hope this comment does not seem offensive. Since I have no way of knowing your own thoughts yet, I dared to put this out here.

No matter what, I love your work! And I am very interested in the journey you will take from here.

*: This guy in short analysis. Interaction - with the viewer (or against), barred expression - keeping us out, threatening with a makeshift weapon (of a sports tool).
I think he is rather shown as fighting against being understood by the viewer. This kind of behaviour seems to be taken for a show of strength in a lot of popular media
(enhanced by menacing elements), but it is more of a sign of them being scared to be open about themselves. We could use a bit more of character strength without weapons,
and less of weakness hiding behind violence.
